The UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service has charged a 26-year-old M’Chigeeng man following an investigation into allegations of intimate partner violence.
On August 26, 2026, UCCM officers received information regarding an intimate partner violence incident involving the accused, Cordell WHITE, 26, of M’Chigeeng First Nation. Members of the Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Unit commenced an investigation.
As the investigation progressed, police obtained judicial authorizations and continued efforts to locate WHITE. On September 1, 2026, WHITE was located and arrested after entering a RIDE checkpoint on Highway 6 in Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation.
WHITE was held in police custody for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice. He was subsequently released by the presiding Justice of the Peace on a release order with conditions and is scheduled to appear in First Appearance Court on September 22, 2026.
WHITE has been charged with:
- Criminal Harassment – Beset and Watch Complainant;
- Forcible Confinement – (Two counts);
- Assault – Spousal – (Two counts);
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Choke, Suffocate or Strangle
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Theft Under $5,000
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Failure to Comply with a Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
The allegations contained in the charges have not been proven in court. WHITE is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
