On Thursday, September 3, 2026, at approximately 09:02 hrs, members of the Chatham-Kent Police responded to a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham regarding an assault complaint.
Police attended and learned that a man had spit on an employee before leaving the area on foot.
Officers located the man a short time later. A brief foot pursuit occurred before the man was taken into custody.
As a result, a 37-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and resisting arrest.
The accused was taken to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing.
