Chatham-Kent Police Daily Update

Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 167 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested and four were on outstanding warrants.

Man Arrested for Theft CK24011031

At 1:31 p.m., police responded to a business on Wellington Street West in Chatham for a theft investigation.

Officers learned the man entered the store and removed items from the shelves. The man exited the store without paying for the items. The incident was captured on surveillance footage which assisted officers in identifying the man. Officers located the man a short distance away with the merchandise and arrested him.

The 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with theft and possession of stolen property. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24011062

At 3:48 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance on Willis Street in Wallaceburg.

Officers located the man and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

The 35-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing. The man currently facing the following charges: failing to comply with a probation order, failing to attend court, two counts of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property.

Woman Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24011102

At 8:54 p.m., officer began investigating suspicious activity in an alleyway on Joseph Street in Chatham.

Officers located two women fixing a bicycle chain. Further investigation revealed one of the women was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

The 32-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was released with conditions and a future court date of April 22, 2024. The woman currently faces the following charges: fraud, two counts of theft, three counts of possession of stolen property and five counts of unauthorized use of a credit card.

Man Arrested for Uttering Threats CK24011103

At 9:10 p.m., police responded to St. Clair Street in Chatham for a threats investigation.

Officers learned the man approached the victim and stated he was going to harm the victim’s daughter while making a threatening gesture. Further investigation revealed the man was on conditions not to communicate with the victim or her daughter.

Officers located the man walking southbound on St. Clair Street and arrested him.

The 18-year-old Chatham man was charged with uttering threats, and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested for Breaching the Peace CK24011132

On March 12, 2024, at 1:10 a.m., police responded to McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg for a disturbance.

Officers received information the man was behaving erratically, reportedly jumping in and out of vehicles in the drive-thru and the drive-thru window at McDonalds restaurant. The man was located and found to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself.

The 26-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held until sober.
