On Wed., Sept. 2, 2026, members of the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) arrested and charged a Barrie man following a four-month investigation.
The investigation began after the ICE Unit received a report from the National Centre of Missing and Exploited Children concerning the upload of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
In June, the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the east end of the city. The accused was not located at the time of the search. A second search warrant was obtained on July 30 for an address in the west end of Barrie, where police located the accused.
Officers also seized an electronic mobile device for forensic analysis, which resulted in the categorization of images and videos of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
A 24-year-old man is charged with:
Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
Accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material
This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
