Michael COWAN Arrested & Facing Impaired Charge Following Collision

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TWP, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron – Kinloss Township resident with Impaired driving offences following a collision on February 12th at approximately 1:45 p.m. 

Huron County OPP were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision on February 12^th, 2023, just before 2:00 p.m. on Bruce Road 86, just East of Lucknow. Upon arrival, emergency services discovered that a vehicle had been impacted from behind while slowing for another vehicle making a turn.

Police spoke to the suspected at-fault driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver provided breath samples to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Michael COWAN, 61 years of age from Huron – Kinloss Twp has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80

The accused was additionally charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 27th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
