(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On February 17, 2021, at 8:52 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Richmond Street, Municipality of Middlesex Centre, for a vehicle travelling in excess of 50km/h over the posted speed limit.
Upon further investigation, police determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had consumed alcohol. The officer demanded that the driver provide a road-side breath sample where upon the driver registered a “FAIL”.
Ian SLEGERS, a 30-year-old from London has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
- Race a motor vehicle – Excessive Speed, section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
The accused is scheduled to appear in a London court room on March 25, 2021.
The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.
