(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) – One person is charged with multiple offences after a traffic collision on Highbury Avenue at Ferguson Line.
On Monday, January 19, 2026, at approximately 1:38 p.m., Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Highbury Avenue at Ferguson Line in the Municipality of Central Elgin. The collision was between a sedan and a transport truck. The driver of the sedan fled on foot and was later located with the assistance from the OPP Canine Unit.
The roads were closed for several hours with the assistance from St. Thomas City Police.
The driver of the sedan was transported to a local hospital for preventative measures. There were no injuries as a result of the collision.
Colton BENTLEY-DUPEE, a 19-year-old from London was charged under the Criminal Code with:
· Dangerous operation
· Failure to stop after accident
· Fail to comply with Probation Order (two counts)
· Failure to comply with Release Order (two counts)
The accused was held for bail and appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice located in St. Thomas on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
