$32,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

(MOOSONEE, ON) – Three individuals were arrested, and a significant quantity of suspected fentanyl was seized following an unwanted person call in Moosonee.

On Jan 28, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of three unwanted persons inside a residence on Moose Drive. Officers located and arrested three individuals inside the home for trespassing. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of approximately 80 grams of suspected fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $32,000, as well as approximately 130 grams of cannabis.

As a result of the investigation, Michael JOHNSON, 31 years old of Brampton, was charged with:

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid – two counts

·        Obstruct a peace officer

·        Unlawfully in a dwelling house

·        Trespassing – fail to leave premises when directed

·        Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on January 31, 2025.

Additionally, Leonard KOOSTACHIN,42 years old of Moosonee has been charged with:

·        Obstruct a peace officer

·        Failure to comply with release order

·        Failure to comply with probation order

This accused person was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on March 11, 2025.

Tyler WABANO, 36 years old of Moosonee has been charged with:

·        Obstruct a peace officer

·        Trespassing – fail to leave premises when directed

This accused person was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on March 11, 2025.
