(EAST REGION) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) has laid charges following a month-long investigation in eastern Ontario.
CSCU in officers Lanark, Leeds and Grenville counties began an investigation in March 2025, when several incidents across the region were reported. A vehicle, its driver and passengers were involved in several thefts as well multiple incidents in which the individuals refused to stop for police.
As part of the investigation, officers were able to identify suspects through surveillance video. On Thursday April 10, 2025, officers located the vehicle in a parking lot in Kemptville and were able to block the vehicle from leaving and preventing further risk to the public. Three people were arrested at the scene.
Trevor MURRAY, 22-years-old, of Perth, has been charged with:
· Theft under $5000
· Dangerous operation
· Operation while prohibited
· Flight from police
· Fail to comply with probation
Cole FERGUSON, 18-years-old, of Montague Township has been charged with theft under $5000.
Samantha COLLES, 19-years-old, of Oxford in Grenville County, has been charged with:
· Theft under $5000
· Fail to comply with undertaking – two counts
MURRAY remains in custody for a bail hearing scheduled before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on April 15, 2025. COLLES was released following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on May 23, 2025. FERGUSON was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on May 9, 2025.
