105 in a 50 – 41 Year Old Charged

Barrie Police officers conducting traffic enforcement on Ferndale Drive North on Thursday, April 23, 2026, arrested a motorist after observing a vehicle dangerously speeding more than double the posted limit.

Officers conducted the traffic stop north of Tiffin Street just after 2 p.m. after radar measured the vehicle travelling 105 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone. Police also learned the driver was behind the wheel with a suspended licence.

As a result, the 41-year-old man from Barrie is facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act:

  • Stunt driving – excessive speed
  • Speeding 105 km/h in a 50 km/h zone
  • Driving while under suspension

Additionally, the accused was handed a 30-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Highway speeds have no place on city streets. Speed limits aren’t suggestions – they are the law to keep everyone safe.
