Repeat Offender Arrested Home Invasion & Foot Pursuit

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On December 24, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a person armed with a knife attempting to break into a residence in the area of Darkwood Road and Little Road in Puslinch Township.

It was reported that the suspect was threatening people and assaulted one of the residents. The suspect began smashing windows to the home and also damaged Christmas decorations and a vehicle parked on the property.

As police arrived on scene, the suspect attempted to flee in a vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle collided with a police cruiser that was arriving on scene. After a brief foot chase, the driver was placed under arrest.

The accused and the victims are known to each other. One victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

A 33-year-old resident of Hamilton has been charged with;

  • Uttering Threats – Cause death (4 counts)
  • Attempted Break and Enter
  • Assault CC 266
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court (2 counts)
  • Flight from Peace Officer CC 320.17
  • Dangerous Operation CC 320.13(1)
  • Resist Peace Officer CC 129(a)
  • Assault with A Weapon CC 267(a)
  • Mischief CC 430(1)(a)
  • Mischief over $5,000 CC 430(3)
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • The Accused was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice-Guelph.

Helmetless 13 Year Old Airlifted After Collision With Concrete Wall

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On December 26, 2020, at approximately 1:30 p.m.  Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and the Wellington North Fire Service responded to a collision involving a snowmobile at an address on Second Line in the Township of Wellington North. 

It was reported that a 13-year-old youth was operating a snowmobile on a farm property. The youth lost control of the snowmobile and collided with a concrete barn wall. The operator was not wearing a helmet.

The youth was transported to a local hospital and later flown by Ornge air ambulance to a trauma centre with serious injuries.

Middlesex County Holiday Arrests

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On December 29, 2020 at 01:35 a.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located a motor vehicle weaving in its lane and striking a curb on Industrial Rd. in the City of London. A traffic stop was completed and as a result of an investigation police have charged the driver Mark MOSCHUK – age 39- of Tillsonburg, ON with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine as per section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) as well as,
  • Careless driving as per section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

Police have also charged the vehicle passenger Kenya ROWE – age 26- of Norwich TWP with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine as per section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)

Both parties have been released from police custody and are schedule to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in February 2021 to speak to the charges.

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) On December 27, 2020 at 5:46 a.m. Middlesex OPP responded to reports of a single motor vehicle that struck and broke a hydro pole on Elgin Rd. near Avon Dr., located in Thames Centre. Upon arrival at the scene police soon learned that the driver was impaired. The driver was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the London OPP Detachment for further tests. The vehicle passenger was treated and released at the scene for minor injuries.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Corrinne SWARTZ – age 24- of Bayham ON with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs as per section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in March of 2021.

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) On December 26, 2020 Middlesex OPP were on directed patrol as a result of a recent recovered stolen vehicle, when they located a suspicious motor vehicle on Thorndale Rd in Thames Centre. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified to be suspended driver within the Province of Ontario. As a result of an investigation police have charge the driver, Grzegorz MALOLEPSZY – age 34- of London, ON with multiple offences including:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime,under $5,000 – in Canada, as per section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession break in instruments, as per section 351(1) CC
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine as per section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition as per section 92(2) of the CC
  • Possession of an identity document as per section 56.1 of the CC

The accused has also been charged with three offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and one offence under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA). The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on March 13, 2020 to speak to the charges.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) On December 24, 2020 at 8:07 p.m. Middlesex OPP located a motor vehicle travelling at 150km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone on Richmond St., Middlesex Centre. A traffic stop was completed and a driver -age 50- from London, ON has been charged with:

  • Race a motor vehicle – Excessive speed as per section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

The drivers licence was suspended at the roadside and the vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days. The driver was released with a future court date to speak to the charges.

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) On December 24, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Middlesex OPP stopped a motor vehicle on the w/b lanes of HWY 401 at Veterans Memorial Parkway (VMP) after the vehicle was locked on radar at 154 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone. The driver -age 20- of London, ON was charged with:

  • Race a motor vehicle – Excessive speed as per section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Fail to signal – lane change as per section 142(1) HTA

The drivers licence was suspended at the roadside and the vehicle was impounded for a period of seven days. The driver was released with a future court date to speak to the charges.

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) On December 22, 2020 Middlesex OPP responded to reports of an assault in the drive through area of Tim Hortons, located in Glencoe, ON. The altercation was believed to be in relation to a road rage incident. As a result of an investigation police have charged Derek FIFE – age 39- of Chatham, ON with:

  •   CC 266 Assault

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on February 23, 2021 to speak to the charges.

Afterlife Scammer Charged For Breaking Gathering Limits

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – On December 27, 2020, shortly after 9:00 a.m. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Leamington officers responded to a complainant of ongoing church services in the 1300 block of Mersea Road 8, Leamington in which more than 10 people were attending contrary to current restrictions. Upon police arrival, officers observed several people inside the church, well above current limits, and requested that the service be ended. 

A 29-year-old from Leamington took responsibility for the gathering and was charged with failing to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order, contrary to section 10(1)(a) of the Reopening Ontario Act, 2020. The matter is scheduled for February 4, 2020 in the Leamington Ontario Court of Justice.

A short time later another complaint was received and police attended the 700 block of Mersea Road 8, Leamington in response to a large gathering. Police requested the service be ended.

A 46 year-old from Chatham-Kent, a representative of the church, was charged with failing to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order, contrary to section 10(1)(a) of the Reopening Ontario Act, 2020. The matter is scheduled for February 4, 2020 in the Leamington Ontario Court of Justice.

21 Year Old Arrested For Dangerous Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) –  On December 27, 2020 shortly after 4:00 PM Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) traffic officers were on patrol in the area of the County Road 42 near Patillo Road, Lakeshore when they observed a motor vehicle being operated in an erratic manner. 

Officers observed a vehicle do two complete circles causing other vehicles on the roadway to stop to avoid a collision.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver was arrested for Dangerous Driving under the Criminal Code of Canada (C.C.).

A search of the vehicle revealed that the suspect was in possession of a quantity of cannabis which is an offence under the Cannabis Control Act. (CCA)

Tyler DESJARDIN, 21 years-old of Tecumseh, is scheduled to appear in Windsor Ontario Court of Justice charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle – CC
  • Drive Motor Vehicle Cannabis readily available – CCA

33 Year Old Arrested Following Ditch Rollover

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On December 20, 2020, at approximately 3:00 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 16 near Side Road 15 in the Township of Centre Wellington.

It was reported that a vehicle left the road, entered a ditch, and rolled over.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the driver and formed the opinion that they was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and underwent further testing.

Michael Alan NEVETT, 33-years-old of Orangeville, has been charged with Operation While Impaired – 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code and Having Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on January 15, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Fatal Snowmobile Vs Barn Collision Near Hensall On Christmas Eve – Alcohol A Factor

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A snowmobile crash late last night south of Hensall has resulted in a fatality. 

At approximately 11:19 p.m. on December 24, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a farm property located on London Road south of Hensall after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a snowmobile crash.

Upon arrival first responders located and then performed life saving measures on the snowmobile operator. He was transported from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation. 

The initial investigation has determined the deceased was operating a snowmobile in a field when he collided with a barn situated on the property. 

Investigators believe alcohol and excessive speed were contributing factors in the crash.

The deceased has been identified as Travis WILSON, 24 years of age, from Lambton Shores. 

A post-mortem examination will take place this weekend.

37 Year Old Ditch Drunk Driver From Owen Sound Arrested In Meaford

(MEAFORD, ON) – On December 21, 2020 at 9:34 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 26, near the 2nd Concession North, in the Municipality of Meaford.  

A driver in a sport utility vehicle had driven into the ditch.

Officers attended and spoke with this driver. The driver showed obvious signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. The driver was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Chatsworth for additional testing.  

The results of the breath test were over the legal limit of 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Nathan PARK, 37 years-of-age, from Owen Sound with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) and operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CCC.

This driver was issued a 90 day drivers licence suspension and their vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on February 18, 2021.

Child Abducted During Home Invasion – Parents Chase Down Nathaniel KAHGEE & Rescue Their Child

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) On December 23, 2020 at 8:17 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a child abduction that had just occurred on Eagle Street, on the Saugeen First Nation Reserve.

The investigation revealed a suspect had broken into a residence, took a young child and fled. The victim’s parents pursued the suspect and regained custody of their child. The suspect fled the scene.

Officers conducted a search of the area with the assistance of members of the West Region Emergency Response Team. The suspect was located and taken into custody.   

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Nathaniel KAHGEE, 26 years-of-age, from Saugeen First Nation, ON with the following offences:

  •  Abduction of a person under 14, section 28(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Break and enter a dwelling house – commit indictable offence, section 348(1)(b) CCC

The accused has been remanded into custody, following a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 24, 2020.

False Carjacking Report Leads To Arrest

(ARRAN TWP, ON) – On July 16, 2020 at 10:01 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a vehicle theft report from an address along Bruce Road 10 in Arran Township. 

The caller reported that a pedestrian had brandished a weapon before taking their Silver Mercedes GLK350 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

Members of the South Bruce OPP, OPP Aviation Services, a member of the OPP Forensic Identification Unit and an OPP Canine Unit responded to the call.

As a result of the continuing police investigation, conducted by members of the South Bruce OPP Crime Unit, a 55-year-old resident of Arran Township was charged with Public Mischief.

The accused will be appearing in court as required to answer to the charge.
