(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Investigators from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit have a mystery on their hands and they are hopeful someone, somewhere can help them solve it.
It was October 15, 2016 when a deceased male was found on a beach of the shores of Lake Huron just north of Port Albert. Huron OPP was contacted and an investigation immediately commenced. Police are still seeking the public’s assistance in locating the Next-of-Kin of the victim.
Despite a very thorough investigation, including an exhaustive search of all accessible databases, widespread media coverage and over a hundred tips from the public, investigators have not been able to confirm the identity of this male.
Investigators have discovered that a journalist working in northern Ontario had captured photos of the victim near Espanola Ontario in September. It was further determined that the victim was traveling from Alberta to Ontario. He identified himself to the journalist as Mitchell NELSON and provided an age of 57 years. He also indicated that he was travelling to visit family and friends in the London area and that he also had relatives toward the Ottawa area.
Investigators are confident this male has friends and family somewhere and it is just a matter of time before someone comes forward to help investigators solve this mystery. “We remain optimistic a family member, friend, acquaintance, former co-worker, or former classmate will hear about this investigation and will come forward to help us with this investigation. The victim is described as:
White, male
Average to medium build
Balding with grey hair.
Thin moustache.
Approximately 30-60 years old.
Clothing:
Blue “Fluid” lifejacket.
Black fleece type pullover/jacket
Black wind pants with letter “PEP” on a shield.
White and black Nike running shoes.
