Snow Squall Watch For Huron and Perth – 10cm Snow, Visibilities Significantly Reduced

4:35 AM EST Saturday 28 January 2017

Snow squall watch in effect for:

Goderich – Bluewater – Southern Huron County

Listowel – Milverton – Northern Perth County

Stratford – Mitchell – Southern Perth County

Wingham – Blyth – Northern Huron County

Brief, intense snowfall is expected to develop. Under the snow squall, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow.

A cold front will pass over the area late this afternoon and early this evening. As this front passes a brief period of heavy snow and blowing snow is expected.

Snowfall amounts near 10 cm are possible by late this evening. This snow is expected to fall in a short period of time late this afternoon or early this evening.

The potential for snow squall development over Lake Huron and Georgian Bay will continue through the weekend.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.

Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
