Repeat Offender Arrested In Goderich For Theft & Methamphetamine – Name Released

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 31-year-old from Central Huron is facing five criminal charges following a shoplifting incident that took place yesterday afternoon (28Feb) just outside of Goderich.

Around 6:45 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to the Canadian Tire store located on Huron Road to investigate a shoplifting incident. Within a couple minutes officers arrived on scene and with the assistance of store staff police located the suspect at a nearby store. Officers detained the suspect and found the male to be in possession of a stolen flashlight.

Upon being informed of his arrest the male suspect began to resist arrest and tried to break free from the officers. Officers were able to gain control of the male and upon searching the male they located a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. Further investigation revealed the male was failing to comply with conditions of his probation order.

As a result, 31-year-old Christopher KURTH from Central Huron has been charged with Theft Under $5,000 (Shoplifting), Resist Peace Officer, Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Methamphetamine) and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 20, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
