Kitchener Male Charged Following Weapons Incident and Assault in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police have laid multiple charges following a weapons-related incident in Kitchener.

On September 4, 2026, at approximately 11 p.m., two victims were in the area of Highland Road East and were confronted by an unknown male.

The male approached the victims while producing what appeared to be a firearm and pointing it at them. The male then discharged the firearm multiple times, causing injuries. A physical altercation took place between the parties and further physical injuries occurred as a result.

All injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.

Officers responded immediately and arrested the suspect at the scene.

At the time of the arrest, police determined that the firearm used was a pellet gun.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with:

Trespass by Night

Two Counts of Pointing a Firearm

Carrying a Concealed Weapon

Two Counts of Assault with a Weapon

Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

Aggravated Assault

Assault Causing Bodily Harm

Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

Investigators determined this was an isolated incident and believe it was a targeted occurrence
