High Risk Takedown On Bayfield Street

A weapons-related call in a Kozlov Street parking lot turned into a high-risk takedown and two arrests over the weekend.

Barrie Police received a report about a violent disturbance involving two men and two unknown male victims in a north end parking lot at 7:50 p.m., on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

Officers arrived and within six minutes they located the suspect vehicle exiting the commercial plaza and heading onto Bayfield Street. As part of the weapons investigation, police conducted a high-risk stop of the vehicle and detained the four occupants.

One individual matching the suspect description was arrested and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters. The other three vehicle occupants were released unconditionally.

Around 9:30 p.m., officers attending an unrelated incident located an individual matching the second suspect’s description and took him into custody.

Despite extensive searches of the area no firearms were recovered.

After speaking with witnesses and gathering evidence, including video footage, police confirmed the two accused had been in possession of handguns, which were pointed at the two victims.

As a result of the investigation, two 21-year-old men, both from Barrie, are charged with:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Failing to comply with probation order

The investigation is ongoing.
