(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – A Fergus driver has been removed from the roadway after police locate cannabis in vehicle.
On March 21, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a possible impaired driver on Highway 6 in Guelph-Eramosa Township.
On scene, police observed signs of impairment and found cannabis within the vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, Dinesh KUMAR, a 29-year-old from Fergus, is charged under the Criminal Code, the Cannabis Control Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Have care or control of a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
- Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on April 28, 2026.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
