(PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Thursday March 23, 2017, shortly after 7:30 p.m., a member of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a grey Ford Focus traveling eastbound on Line 20 in the Township of Perth South at a high rate of speed. The officer corroborated his visual observations of the approaching vehicle with a RADAR device and confirmed the speed of the racing car at a speed in excess of 50km/h over the posted 80 km/h zone. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was subsequently charged.
Robert ASMUSSEN, 31 years of age, from London has been charged with performing a stunt – excessive speed, and drive motor vehicle-no licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear in Stratford Provincial offences court on April 25, 2017.
He received a 7 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was seized for 7 days.
