(NORTH PERTH, ON.) – On Saturday March 25, 2017 shortly before 2:00 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program at the intersection of Maddison Street and Winstanley Street in the Municipality of North Perth. A silver Dodge Ram pick-up entered the RIDE program and was checked by officers.
Investigation revealed that the truck had a licence plate attached to it that was stolen. Both the driver and passenger were arrested. A further search of the motor vehicle resulted in the discovery of a second stolen licence plate.
As a result, 25 year-old, Philip MAGUIRE of Mapleton Township has been charged with 2 counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code.
The other occupant, 24 year-old, Kevin HARPER of North Perth, has been charged with 2 counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and 2 counts of fail to comply with recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code.
Both have since been released from custody and are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on Monday April 24, 2017.
