Running Stop Sign In Mount Forest Leads To James DUNCAN’s Arrest

(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – An individual is charged following a traffic stop in Mount Forest.

On March 2, 2026, at approximately 12:15 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting proactive traffic control when they observed a vehicle going through a stop sign on Waterloo Street in Mount Forest, at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result of the investigation, James DUNCAN, a 38-year-old from Mount Forest is charged under the Criminal Code, the Highway Traffic Act, the Liquor Licence and Control Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Owner operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Disobey stop sign – fail to stop

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on April 14, 2026.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
