At approximately 6 pm on April 7th, a young man went into a Wyndham Street business under the pretext of purchasing a phone. When the merchant attempted to show the male a particular phone, he snatched it up and ran off. The merchant gave chase and when he caught up to the suspect, there was a physical altercation between the two in a parking lot area. The merchant was not physically injured before police arrived quickly to arrest the male. The phone was recovered but was damaged in the incident.
David Folajinmi, a 20 year old Waterloo resident, was charged with robbery and mischief under $5000.00. He was later released to appear in court on May16, 2017.
