(GODERICH, ON) – A 36-year-old from Petrolia will be making a trip to court later this spring following a traffic stop that took place in Goderich yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 4:24 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2017 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Chevrolet pickup truck following closely behind his patrol vehicle. The officer first noticed the suspect vehicle when it pulled up very close to the stopped police vehicle. The officer proceeded to turn left onto Elgin Avenue East from Victoria Street North and he watched as the suspect vehicle tailed in behind him at a very close distance. The officer then moved lanes and watched as the suspect vehicle aggressively passed the officer’s vehicle.
A traffic stop was initiated and the driver pulled over without incident. While speaking with the male driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. Additionally, the driver was observed to be displaying several signs that he was impaired by alcohol. As a result the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving. He was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
Chad HENDERSON, 36 years of age from Petrolia has been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Follow Too Closely. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 29, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
