Drunk Driver Arrested In Seaforth – Name Released

(HURON EAST, ON) – A 22-year-old from Huron East will be making a trip to court in a few weeks following a traffic stop that took place in Seaforth early Sunday morning. Shortly after 3:00 a.m. on April 23, 2017 Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers from the Huron & Perth OPP Detachments received information that a driver may be driving under the influence of alcohol.

Officers immediately began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and a short time later the suspect vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup was spotted on Silver Creek Crescent in Seaforth.

A traffic stop was initiated and upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver provided a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device and he registered a fail. He was placed under arrest for Drive Motor Vehicle Over 80 Milligrams and was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

Darcy WILLIAMSON, 22 years of age from Seaforth has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 15, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
