(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 33-year-old will have some explaining to do in court after he was charged by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) over the weekend.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on June 25, 2017 Huron OPP officers responded to Huron Street, south of Dashwood to investigate a Dangerous Driving incident involving individuals all known to each other.
Police learned a male and female were riding an ATV on Huron Street when they came to a stop at the end of a laneway. At that point a Ford F-150 pickup truck drove past the stopped ATV’ers in an aggressive and erratic manner. As the truck passed by gravel kicked up in the direction of the ATV.
The driver of the pickup then turned around and drove directly toward the ATV. The accused proceeded to ram his truck into the ATV as the victims were still seated on the machine. The driver of the ATV got off his machine and tried to stop the accused however the accused then struck the male victim in the head with a weapon. Both the male and female victims sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The accused then sped away from the scene. A short while later the accused turned himself in at the Exeter OPP Detachment. Brian MORLEY, 33 years of age from North Middlesex was placed under arrest and charged with the following offences:
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Assault with a Weapon (3) counts
Fail to Stop at the Scene of Accident
He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 10, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
