Neighbor Protects Community – 34 Year Old From Central Huron Arrested – Name Released

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 34-year-old is facing criminal charges after police received a call from a quick thinking neighbor.

It was around 9:45 p.m. on June 23, 2017 when an Ontario Street resident called Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report seeing two males walking around a nearby neighbour’s property. The neighbour kept a watchful eye and immediately called police as it was known the owner was currently on vacation and the home was supposed to be unoccupied.

One of the males took off before police arrived however a second male was found by police inside the home. The male had made himself home as he had had consumed food and alcohol that belonged to the owner. Police arrested the male and took him into custody without incident.

Damien MAIZE, 34 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Break, Enter and Commit Indictable Offence and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 17, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
