Parked In Middle Of Road Results In Over 80 Charge For Brussels Man – Name Released

(HURON EAST, ON) – A 34-year-old from Brussels has been charged with Impaired Care or Control & Over 80 following an incident that took place late last night in Brussels.

At approximately 11:16 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer responded to Princess Street to investigate a traffic hazard. Police received information from a concerned citizen that a driver had been parked in the middle of the road for several hours.

Officers arrived on scene to locate a Saturn Ion parked in the middle of the road with the engine off. While speaking with the driver the investigating officer made several observations that led him to believe the driver’s ability to drive a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

As a result, the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Care or Control and was transported to the Listowel OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

34-year-old David DREYER from Brussels has been charged with Care or Control While Impaired and Care or Control Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 17, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Wingham. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and impounded for the next seven days.
