(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 28-year-old from Thames Centre is now facing charges following a traffic stop that took place north of Exeter the last week of September.
Just before 9:30 a.m. on September 24, 2017 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a Ford pickup truck speeding northbound on London Road (Highway 4) just north of Exeter. A traffic stop ensued and while speaking with the driver police observed open alcohol in the vehicle. Additionally, police suspected the male had been drinking alcohol.
As a result, a roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests where both of his tests registered over the legal limit. Additionally, the driver’s vehicle was searched incident to arrest and a quantity of marihuana was located inside the vehicle.
Chad GELDART, 28 years of age from Thames Centre has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle Over 80 Milligrams, Possession of Cannabis Marihuana, Drive Motor Vehicle With Liquor Readily Available and Speeding.
He now has a court appearance scheduled for October 26, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter. His motor vehicle was impounded for the week and his driver’s licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days
