On November 27, 2017, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board was notified of a threat that had been posted on a social media site aimed at students who attend a Waterloo high school. The threat suggested that harm was going to come to students in the school. School Board staff notified Waterloo Regional Police and an investigation led to the arrest of a young person from Kitchener. He has been charged with Utter Threats to Cause Death and Convey False Message.
