(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – On December 3, 2017 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County Road 12 near County Road 8, Township of Mapleton. The officer observed a male driving a 2009 Hyundai at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.
46-year-old Duane BARRETT of Waterloo has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on January 3, 2018. His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
