(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On December 19, 2017 at approximately 9:00 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph near Laird Road, City of Guelph. The officer observed a male driving a 2017 Ford Fusion at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.
41-year-old Mir Adeel ABID of Markham has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on February 7, 2018. His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
Later that day at approximately 1:15 p.m. an officer was monitoring traffic at the above location. The officer observed a male driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.
76-year-old Khawaja Sadiq HAYAT of Guelph has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on February 7, 2018. His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
