Toddler And Vehicle Stolen – Do You Recognize This Suspect?

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – at approximately 7:00 p.m. on December 25, 2017 Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle theft and possible kidnapping at a gas station on St. David Street North, Fergus.

The mother of a child was in the store when an unknown suspect entered her unlocked, running vehicle and stole it while her child was still in it a car seat. Witness attempted to intervene but the suspect got away and was last seen fleeing north on Highway 6. Shortly thereafter, OPP located the grey Chevrolet Impala abandoned on Highway 6 near Sideroad 19. The child was still in the vehicle and unharmed. The suspect was not located.

Video surveillance has identified a suspect and OPP are asking the public’s assistance in identifying him (see surveillance photo 1 and 2). The male is described as Caucasian with a medium build. He was wearing a black coat over a grey jacket, light coloured pants, black with white running shoes, and a grey beanie” style Puma® toque (see comparable photo 3). He also attempted to conceal his face with a wrap style scarf that possibly has a skull print (see comparable photo 4). An unknown accomplice
