Habitual Offender Caught Driving Again – William Allan DAVIDSON

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On Friday December 22, 2017 at approximately 4:00 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a brown sedan travelling on the shoulder of Wellington Road 109, south of Harriston. The motor vehicle was travelling at off the pavement with its four-ways activated at a speed slightly lower than the posted limit of 80km/hr.

The male driver was stopped and investigation revealed that he was suspended from driving by the Ministry of Transportation multiple times.

59-year-old William Allan DAVIDSON of Mildmay has been charged with two-counts of Driving While Suspended contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA). He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on February 7, 2018 to answer to the charges.

Further investigation identified that DAVIDSON was also stopped and charged by Wellington County OPP on Friday November 3, 2017. On that day he was also charged for two-counts of Driving While Suspended contrary to the HTA. He was travelling on Highway 6, south of Fergus, at speed that was well below the posted speed limit causing traffic to be congested when he was stopped. He was scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on December 20, 2017.

Drivers are reminded that on a first conviction of driving while your licence is suspended may result in a fine from $1,000 to $5,000. Subsequent convictions fines start at $2,000 and a driver may also be liable to imprisonment of up to 6 months.
