(PERTH EAST, ON) -A concerned citizen’s phone call to police led to the arrest of a driver on January 12, 2018. Shortly before 6:30 p.m., a vehicle was reported to have entered the ditch in the area of Perth Road 119 and Perth Line 43 in the Township of Perth East.
Upon police arrival, the vehicle was located and the driver and occupants were waiting with a passerby. Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of vehicle had been consuming alcohol.
A thirty-nine-year old man from the Municipality of West Perth was arrested and charged with Over 80-Care or Control and Impaired-Care or Control. Breath samples obtained were over 4 times the legal limit.
The male was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The vehicle was impounded, and the male’s driver’s licence has been suspended.
Impaired driving will not be tolerated on our road ways. The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) remains committed to locating and arresting those who endanger the lives of the public by operating a motor vehicle while impaired. There is no excuse.
