(LONDON, ON) – Members of the media are invited to attend a public education session tomorrow night, Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at 7 pm about fentanyl and other illicit opioids for parents or those who care about someone who may be using one of these dangerous drugs.
The speakers at the session hosted by London Police Service (LPS) and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are:
· London Police Service Deputy Chief Daryl Longworth will speak about the local fentanyl situation;
· OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau’s Det. Cst. Chris Auger will discuss different types of drugs, the effects and behaviours to watch for that may indicate drug use;
· A representative of the Community Opioid Addictions Program of Addiction Services of Thames Valley will speak about community treatment and withdrawal support options, the Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine Clinic and residential treatment.
· Shaya Dhinsa from Middlesex-London Health Unit will speak about Naloxone and how it can save lives. She will also demonstrate how to use Naloxone following the presentations.
