(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On March 24, 2018 at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a family dispute resulting in a firearm being discharged on Mountainview Crescent, Town of Erin.
The suspect was involved in a dispute with family members, uttering threats and during the dispute a firearm was discharged. A 16-year-old female sustained minor injuries after being struck by a bullet ricochet. The suspect left the home prior to police arrival. He was located and arrested a short time later.
A 58-year-old male from Erin has been charged with the following:
Firearm – Use while committing offence
Careless Use of Firearm
Careless storage of Firearm
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Pointing a Firearm x 2
Impaired Driving
Assault – Spousal
Utter Threats
Assault with a Weapon
Discharge Firearm with Intent
The suspect was held for bail.
