Barrie Police were called to a south end home for a report of a domestic dispute.
A 27 year old American male had recently met a Barrie resident and the pair began to live togeather.
On November 9th, Police learned the couple had become engaged in an argument over the male’s use of the female’s car to drive to Toronto to visit friends.
The argument escalated to the point where the male was threatening the female with a shovel unless she allowed him to take her vehicle.
Fearing for her safety and believing the male may flee to the USA, she called Police and reported an assault, threats and the theft of her vehicle.
Police were unable to locate the male and issued a warrant for his arrest.
At approximately 2am on November 10th, Police were contacted by Toronto Police who had the male in custody Barrie Police were called to a south end home for a report of a domestic dispute.
Barrie Police attended Toronto and returned the male to Barrie where he is awaiting a bail hearing
