(Ottawa) In partnership with the Lebanese Embassy, in order to recognize the integration and achievements of the Lebanese community and in celebration of Lebanese Independence Day, the Ottawa Police Service will proudly unfurl the Lebanese flag. Members, as well as members of the public and media are invited to attend.
WHERE: Ottawa Police station located at 474 Elgin Street
WHEN: Thursday, November 21, 2013
TIME: 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The flag will be on display until Friday, November 22nd. Lebanese community members will provide Lebanese sweets and entertainment and the Ottawa Police Service will provide refreshments and cake.
The Lebanese Flag ceremony will take place in the presence of the Lebanese Ambassador to Ottawa, Her Excellency Micheline Abi Samra, Mayor Jim Watson, Ottawa Police Services Board Chair, Eli El-Chantiry, the Chief of Police Charles Bordeleau, and various leaders of the Ottawa and Lebanese communities. This event is a clear recognition of the contributions of the Lebanese-Canadians to the cultural, business, academic, political and social fields of Ottawa. Lebanese-Canadians are well integrated in the Canadian society while, thanks to the policy of Multiculturalism implemented in Canada, they have also been able to keep and even develop their rich and diverse heritage.
The Ottawa Police Flag and Banner Program ceremony constitutes a true cooperation between the police service and the different communities of the Canadian Capital. The Lebanese community in Ottawa is very proud to be a part of this program.
