(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Friday November 19, 2010, shortly before 6 p.m. Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to an assault on St. Andrew St. in Mitchell in front of the Hometown Variety Store.
A male had reportedly stepped out of his vehicle when another male approached, spoke to him and punched him in the eye knocking him to the ground. While on the ground the victim was punched and kicked by the suspect who was yelling at him about his driving. The suspect then walked back to a vehicle and left the area.
Investigation revealed that the suspect had been driving his short box pickup truck westbound on Hwy. 8 in Mitchell followed by the victim in his vehicle. The suspect turned down a side street (not signalling while turning). The victim followed in his vehicle and passed the suspect vehicle as it had stopped on Quebec St. The victim turned on St. Andrew St. and parked in front of the variety store. There he walking from his vehicle to the variety store, he observed the suspect park his pickup truck a few parking spaces away from his vehicle. The suspect approached the victim and started to speak loudly to him about his driving. As the victim answered he was struck and assaulted. The victim was transported to Stratford General Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The Perth County OPP is requesting the public’s assistance in the identification of the suspect. He is described as a white male approximately 30 years of age 6’ – 6’2†(185 cm) 230 – 240 lbs (109 kg) wearing a beige sweatshirt.
