(SOUTH HURON, ON) – On November 24, 2013 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the intersection of McTaggart Line and Huron Street to check on a driver that had ditched his pickup truck.
Officers responded to the intersection and located a Chevrolet Silverado off the roadway in the southeast ditch. The driver’s side door of the pickup was pinned alongside the stop sign. Officers checked inside the vehicle and found a male driver sleeping in the driver’s seat.
Officers were able to wake up the driver and upon speaking with him they noticed he had been drinking alcohol. Further investigation revealed he was displaying several signs that he was impaired by alcohol.
He was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified intoxilzer technician; Both tests were above the legal limit.
Dennis BIERLING, 62 years of age from South Huron has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has a court date scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on January 23, 2014. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded.
