On Dec 7, 2013 at 12:46 a.m., the Guelph Police Service received report of a male waving a firearm around and pointing it at several people on the street in front of a Mountford Drive residence. Several members of uniform patrol and the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) attended into the area. It was confirmed that a firearm was observed and one person sustained a cut to the hand attempting to disarm the male while on the street.
Through investigation, it was determined that the male with the firearm had gone into a residence with several other people. The house was contained by TRU and after a short period of time, six males were detained without incident as they exited the residence.
A 17-year-old Guelph male has been charged with assault, weapons dangerous, point firearm, assault with a weapon, use firearm in commission of offence, and three counts of fail to comply OIC undertaking. He has been held in custody and will appear in bail court on December 9, 2013.
A 15-year-old Guelph male has been charged with possession of a controlled substance (marihuana) CDSA, weapons dangerous, possession of a firearm and three counts of breach recognizance. He has been held in custody and will appear in court on December 9, 2013.
A 14-year-old Guelph male has been charged with two counts of breach recognizance. He will appear in court on January 29, 2014.
Three males were released unconditionally.
