The Chatham-Kent police would like warn residents about a scam that appears to be circulating.
A man recently reported to police that he received a phone call from an unknown man pretending to be his neighbour. At this time, the unknown man suggested that the man’s daughter injured his dog and now he needed money for emergency surgery. As the unknown man attempted to obtain personal information, the man realized it was a scam and hung up the phone.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all citizens never to give personal information to strangers. If you believe the call is suspicious, please report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. http://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/english/home.html
