Ottawa Police seeks assistance in solving a robbery

(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in solving the robbery of a female pedestrian.

On December 16, 2013, at approximately 4:35 pm, a lone female, age 65, was walking in the area of Allanford Avenue when a person came running up behind her. The lone suspect confronted the victim and made a demand for her backpack. The suspect produced a handgun. The suspect appeared nervous and when the victim declined to turn over her backpack and fled, the suspect did not pursue. The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound on Allanford Avenue.

The suspect is described as being a younger Caucasian male, 110 lbs (50 kg), thin build, 5-2” (157 cm), wearing a black winter coat with fur trim, black pants, and a black balaclava. The suspect was English speaking and sounded young.

It is unclear if this robbery is related to any other robbery in the south end areas over the course of the last two months approximately. That will form part of the investigation as it moves forward.
