Unlocked Vehicles Ransacked Car Stolen

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Wednesday December 18, 2013, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to three residences in Shakespeare where vehicles had been entered and rummaged through.

Investigation revealed that between 1:30 – 2:30 a.m. December 18th, someone walked around the Webster, Regent and James Street area of Shakespeare checking vehicle doors to see if they were unlocked. Two residents reported their unlocked vehicles ransacked, however nothing appears to have been removed.

A Regent Street resident was not so fortunate, as a 2004 VW Jetta was stolen from the driveway. The vehicle is described as black diesel 2004 Volkswagen Jetta with a loud exhaust. It also had Ontario licence plates 56FS73 attached to the front and rear. The car had been left unlocked with a spare set of keys inside.

The Perth County OPP is urging the public to lock their vehicles and pocket the keys.
