(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – On January 7th, 2011 at 9:08 am, the South Bruce OPP received a call about an attempted fraud from a resident along Concession 9 in Kincardine Township.
A male with an East Indian accent identified himself as “George, with On-line PC careâ€. “George†asked if the computer was running slow, then advised he could fix it. When a pop up appeared on the computer screen to advise that $129 was going to be charged to VISA, the home owner became suspicious and disconnected the call.
The South Bruce OPP is sending a reminder to question un-solicited phone calls, emails or other offers that require money or personal information. As technology advances, scams are becoming more sophisticated, be very careful where you send your money.
