On December 31st, 2013 at approximately 9:30pm, Owen Sound Police and Paramedics attended an apartment building in the 800 block of 2nd Avenue East to assist a 27 year old man who had been stabbed. The suspect had fled on foot prior to Police arriving.
Investigation revealed that the 27 year old suspect had earlier shot his girlfriend twice with a pellet gun. The girlfriend ran to the nearby apartment and told several people of the incident. Shortly afterwards the suspect arrived at the apartment to locate his girlfriend. After banging on the door, the victim attempted to calm him down. An altercation ensued resulting in the victim being stabbed three times and suffering minor injuries.
The suspect was located by Police near his residence, hiding on a rooftop. The suspect was arrested without incident. Ryan CARLESS of Owen Sound has been charged with 2 counts of Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Pointing a Firearm, Careless Use of a Firearm, Weapons Dangerous, Possession of a Controlled Substance, 6 counts of Possessing a Firearm contrary to a Prohibition Order and Possession of Counterfeit Currency..
The victim was treated at Grey Bruce Health Services and released. CARLESS was held pending a bail hearing.
