Trespassing Snowmobile Riders

(WALKERTON, ON) – On January 10th, 2011 at 1:11 pm, the South Bruce OPP received a complaint about snowmobile riders using the walking trails through the town of Walkerton. On January 9th, 2011 at 4:50 pm, the caller was using the walking trails near the river, when 2 snowmobiles were encountered. One of the snowmobile riders elected to become verbally abusive as they passed by. The South Bruce OPP is sending a reminder to residents about By-law #97-09 that regulates the use of snowmobiles in the town of Walkerton. A part of the bylaw reads “No person shall, at any time, operate a motorized snow vehicle on any sidewalk, pedestrian right-of-way, flood control dyke or embankment”. Violating this bylaw carries a maximum penalty of $2,000. Anyone with information on these snow mobile operators is asked to call the South Bruce OPP or Crime Stoppers.
