At approximately 9:15AM Barrie Police were called to the area of Mapleview Dr and the 20th Sideroad for single car accident.
An off duty paramedic was assisting the driver of the vehicle when he detected a odour of alcohol.
Police arrived and arrested the male for Impaired driving and transported him to the Barrie Police Service.
The accused gave samples that were well over double the legal limit.
The 38 year old male was held until sober and given a January court date.
