Barrie Police officer on general patrol in the area of Anne Street about 9pm observed a vehicle that was driving without any headlights on. The vehicle was pulled over and the officer was immediately hit with a strong odor of marihuana coming from the driver’s side window. The male driver seemed to be confused and had very slow response time when reaching for his documents. The 20 year old local man was arrested for Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle.
The officer conducted a search of the vehicle and located a ziplock bag of marihuana in the front seat of the car. The accused was then further advised that he was being criminally charged with possession of a controlled substance. The accused was transported to the station where a drug evaluation recognition evaluation was conducted and it was determined that the accused would not be charged with Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle. He was released with a future court date January 2014 in answer to the drug related charge.
