(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Friday January 14, 2011 a Mitchell resident attended at the West Perth OPP Detachment advising that he was the owner of the found grave stone markers.
The markers had been in the backyard of a residence he purchased in Mitchell many years ago. He sold this residence but the new purchaser did not wish to have the grave markers left behind. He subsequently removed the stones and kept them as conversation pieces for many years. They even ended up as decorations on his front porch. The stones were most likely thrown out or left behind in another move. The man lost track of the stones whereabouts and is unsure how they ended up on the shoulder of a county road.
The resident does not want the stones back and found the chain of events to be quite humorous.
The Perth County OPP wants to thank the public for its helping them solve this incident.
