Snowmobile 132 in a 50

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) This past weekend, Perth County OPP officers were actively patrolling the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club trails in Perth County.

From Friday January 28, 2011 until Sunday January 30, 2011 the brand 2011 OPP Skidoos saw very little “down time” as officers covered nearly all of Perth County trails. As a result 10 Motorized Snow Vehicle Act charges were laid and many warnings were issued.

The charges included speeding of 132 km/h on a trail where the speed is 50 km/h. Other speed charges, numerous charges for not displaying proper permit’s, having no proof of insurance and driving a motorized snow vehicle with no trail permit being issued for the machine (this particular charge resulted in a $240 fine).

Officers were also checking for Liquor Licence act violations and were conducting R.I.D.E. checks on the trails.

This winter, Perth County OPP officers will continue to patrol for Snow Vehicle traffic within the municipalities and on the trails in the County. The OPP is dedicated to keeping the public safe on both our highways and trails.
